Despite the common negative claims about the production of reality television, Forbes have released a thoroughly detailed list titled ‘Reality Television Highest Earners’. The list was inspired by the 2016 presidential election, where a reality star was made the 45th president of the United States. In short, the list has a total of seven people, whose collective earnings totalled $133 million USD. What has sparked attention is the fact that $122.5 million of the total $133 million belong to the Kardashian/Jenner family.
Kim Kardashian West, of course, topped the list with an annual earning of $51 million, where majority of the money came from digital marketing of her own brand. It has also been reported that 40% of those earnings came from the ‘Kim Kardashian: Hollywood’ game, plus a large amount from her app, her own emojis (better know as Kimoji’s), and social media endorsements. In second place, Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the sisters, earned a massive $18 million and, just like Kim, majority of the money came from brand endorsements on Instagram. Her collaborations with various brands also played apart, as over the past year she has partnered with Puma, Topshop, Pacsun and Sinful Colors. Her wealth was also augmented by her most recent business venture into the cosmetic industry, Kylie Cosmetics. The rest is said to be from a game, similar to Kim’s titled the ‘Kendall & Kylie‘ game.
Kendall Jenner came third, with an annual earning of $17 million, most of that money has come from being the one of the world’s most top supermodels. Jenner’s name already made it to Forbes‘ ‘Highest Paid Models‘ list, but with the addition of the hit reality TV show, Jenner’s income hits a sky-high level. As stated previously, Jenner also shares the ‘Kendall and Kylie‘ game with younger sister Kylie as well as owning her own app.
In fourth place was Khloe Kardashian. Although her series ‘Kocktails with Khloe‘ wasn’t a hit, Forbes have now confirmed that her high earnings are due to the successful release of the denim line ‘Good American’, as well as her new book and dozens of endorsement deals.
Finally, in fifth and sixth place are Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian, with Kris earning $11.5 million and Kourtney earning a mighty $10 million.
