What’s trending in kitchens?

As the heart of the home, your kitchen plays a central role in everyday life. Whether you use this space as an entertainment area, hosting holiday events or simply a place to hang with the family after a long day, the kitchen brings people together.

If you’re considering a kitchen renovation and need some inspiration, speak with Nobby Kitchens’ sales consultants and design experts. They travel the world and explore what’s hot and what’s not in kitchen design. With over 80 kitchens on display at all four locations and over 80 years experience in the industry, we asked the Nobby team to share their knowledge with us about what’s trending this year.

1. Coloured Accessories

Even though pure white kitchens are still the most popular trend, we are seeing an increase of colour in the home. As you can see in this Nobby customer’s shaker style kitchen.

Whether it be coloured counter stools, appliances, hanging lights or quirky splashbacks, pops of colour are sneaking their way into modern kitchens.

 2. Island Benches

In today’s cooking area, one of the top trends is a multifunctional island bench. This aesthetic kitchen statement can be utilised for much more than just a place to eat or cook. Island benches can provide extra storage space, seating, shelving or displays, more space for appliances or just an open space to connect with friends and family.

3. Quartz is still King

For those wanting a high end, luxurious looking kitchen design, Quartz is still king. It’s extremely durable, easy to maintain and anti-microbial. As it is non-porous, bacteria is unable to grow and the material is hard wearing against stains. Unlike granite and marble, quartz does not need to be sealed and is available in a wide range of colours and realistic stone textures that can be used for benchtops and splashbacks.

4. Statement Light Fixtures

Statement hanging lights that anchor the dining area and kitchen breakfast bars are increasingly popular in luxury developments.

As you can see in this stunning Nobby Kitchen for a client in Gordon NSW. They’ve utilised pendant lights from Magins lighting.

5. Feature Taps

As they can’t be hidden, taps are becoming a stand out feature in kitchen design. The most popular feature finishes include matte black, red, gold, white and polished chrome. This can then be coordinated or contrasted with your cabinetry hardware.

6. Effective Storage Solutions

Nothing is more frustrating than unnecessary waste of space, especially in your new kitchen. Thanks to Nobby Kitchens suppliers, every nook and cranny will be completely optimised due to their wide range of effective storage solutions, including Blum.

7. Dark Cabinets

Dark navy and black tones are becoming an increasingly popular choice, enhancing a kitchen space with its dramatic and luxurious look and feel.

With Nobby Kitchens working with brands like Laminex who offer fingerprint stain and scratch resistant textures, black is no longer a tone to fear when cooking.
