Apple founder Steve Wozniak had a chat with Conan on Monday and discussed his take on the FBI v Apple. He admitted that he sided with Apple because as one of the founders of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), he is very close to human rights. He also addressed that there is a major problem once manufacturers can come in and say “you have to make your products insecure”. He added that once you create something like that, hackers could get into it.
A world without Apple computers would be a parallel universe where the way we communicate and use computer technology would be completely different. Imagine waking up in the morning and not checking your emails on your Mac or consume your train ride with editing videos on iMovie. Wozniak confessed that he has written viruses that could have made this nightmare a reality.
“A couple of times in my life, I wrote something that could be a virus, that could spread itself on Macintosh computers forever, and each time I threw away every bit of code I’d written, I was so scared inside.”
Just the thought of that is enough to send shivers down spines. We’re with you Steve, security comes first and unlocking one phone could lead to problem after problem. So please don’t ever write that virus ever again! What would the world come to?
